Paula S. Silverstein has been a practicing attorney since graduating from Widener University School of Law in 1991. Ms. Silverstein graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1990, she was appointed as a Law Clerk to the City of Philadelphia's Law Department. In 1991, Ms. Silverstein was appointed as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia and its Operating Departments. The Philadelphia City Solicitor's Office is Counsel to the Mayor of Philadelphia. During her tenure at the Law Department for the City of Philadelphia, Ms. Silverstein appeared in State and Federal Trial and Appellate Courts in Pennsylvania.
Following her tenure with the City of Philadelphia, Ms. Silverstein accepted an Associate Position with the Philadelphia-based law firm of Post & Schell, P.C., with over 120 lawyers. Ms. Silverstein was an Associate in the General Liability Department and handled a wide range of civil litigation matters.
Following her employment as an associate with Post & Schell, P.C., Ms. Silverstein worked as in-house counsel for two insurance carriers handling general liability, construction and surety construction cases. Working for the insurance carriers enabled Ms. Silverstein to learn how to effectively negotiate and understand their philosophy on claims, and allowed her to become successful in negotiating complex injury cases.
Ms. Silverstein is licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey, and she is a member of the Pennsylvania Association For Justice. Ms. Silverstein won the 2011 Jeremiah Sullivan Black Barrister Award.
